Course description
We will provide all of the drawing and oil painting materials, so you do not need to bring anything with you. You are welcome to bring your own materials if you wish.
All levels of experience are welcome! Beginners and seasoned artists all have things to learn and we will adjust the teaching and feedback we give to each student. No minimum education required.
Pick from the available dates to sign up, then select the subjects you are interested in. You can also decide when you arrive at class and speak with the instructor. Here are some suggested exercises.
- Work from the model: a live model will be available for portraits and figure studies.
- Self-Portrait: learn how to paint a portrait from looking in a mirror.
- Flower Painting: learn how to arrange flowers, mix colors, and paint flower petals.
- Still Life: learn how to arrange a composition and paint a variety materials, textures, and colors.
- Plaster Cast Study: draw or paint from observing a plaster cast of a classical sculpture.
- Master Copy: make a copy of another excellent artwork to learn more about the original artist’s techniques and solutions.
- Landscape: learn how to sketch the world around you

The courses at The Florence Academy of Art / Sweden are designed for students with a strong desire to develop their artistic skills. Most of the instruction is on an individual basis and our instructors adapt the exercises to your level of experience. This means that the courses are suitable for both beginners and professional artists. In addition to the individual feedback there will also be group lessons and in-class demos. The skills you acquire during your course can be applied directly to your continued artistic endeavours.
Full payment for each course is required to secure your spot in the class.
