Strengthening Our Community
A word from the Academic Director
The bonds formed at FAA Sweden don’t end at graduation. They extend beyond the studio walls, carried forward through shared experiences, artistic growth, and the friendships that shape a lifetime. This year, we are making a concerted effort to strengthen these connections, among current and past students, between our alumni and the academy. (Estimated reading time: 3 min)

A Renewed Focus on Alumni Connections
A key part of this endeavour is the FAA Sweden Alumni Fellowship. The 2025 edition is planned for the first two weeks of August, and is shaping up to be our most ambitious yet. While details are still being finalized, we expect to release a schedule by the end of March.
To ensure our alumni stay informed and engaged, we also launched an Alumni Newsletter earlier this week. This will serve as the foundation for all alumni-related communication: a space to share school updates, upcoming events, and, just as importantly, your own news. Exhibitions, projects, achievements, this newsletter is meant to keep us all connected. If you have something to share, we’d love to hear from you.
More Interaction, More Community
Alongside these efforts, we’ve rethought our approach to social media. Until now, much of our content has been directed at those who haven’t yet studied with us. That is changing. Our focus since the beginning of this Academic Year is on our students (past and present) as well as our alumni. We want our platforms to be more interactive, more personal, and (yes) more social. We want a space that fosters real connections, just like our studios do. Our goal is to create a dynamic meeting place where alumni, students, and faculty can share their artistic journeys and strengthen the bonds that define FAA/Sweden.
To make this shift structured and engaging, we have divided our social media presence into five main categories:
- Editorial Photography – Coverage of field trips and other events.
- My POV – Current and former students sharing their experiences, perspectives, and insights.
- Throwback Thursdays (TBT) – A look back at our history, featuring photos and stories from past students and past moments at the academy. (If you have old photos from your time at FAA Sweden, we’d love to see them! Send them our way and help us build this visual archive.)
- Painting & Drawing – Because.
- Announcements from the Office – Essential updates, application deadlines, and official news.
At the same time, we’ll be more selective about what we post. If we don’t have anything meaningful to share, we won’t post just for the sake of posting. Our priority is to keep our channels relevant for those of you who have already been part of the school.
Join the Conversation
This is a collective effort. What do you want to see on our channels? What kind of stories, insights, or updates matter to you? If you have ideas or want to contribute, send me an email.
